What this scheme actually is

The RKVY agri-startup programme is the most accessible entry point in Indian agritech. Grants are modest but the bar is proportionate, and the money comes with two months of structured incubation at an R-ABI — usually an agricultural university or ICAR institute. For a first-time agripreneur, the incubation and network are worth as much as the cheque.

Implementing agency: RKVY-supported Agri-Business Incubators (R-ABIs)

What the scheme sets out to do

Promote innovation and agripreneurship by providing financial support
Nurture the agri incubation ecosystem through R-ABIs
Strengthen infrastructure in agriculture and allied areas

Who can apply

DPIIT-recognised startups in agriculture and allied sectors
Agripreneurs applying through RKVY-supported agri-business incubators

What you get

Pre-seed stage support up to ₹5 lakh through R-ABIs
Seed-stage support up to ₹25 lakh through R-ABIs
Structured incubation, mentoring and grant-in-aid
Access to the agricultural university and ICAR network

How to apply, step by step

  1. 1

    Get DPIIT recognition

It is the stated eligibility condition for the programme.

  2. 2

    Choose your R-ABI

R-ABIs are hosted at agricultural universities and ICAR institutes across states. Pick on crop, commodity or technology fit — and on proximity, because the incubation is partly residential.

  3. 3

    Apply through agristartup.gov.in

Applications and cohort announcements run through the central agri-startup portal.

  4. 4

    Complete the incubation programme

Selected startups go through a structured programme at the R-ABI before and alongside grant disbursal. Attendance and milestone completion are conditions of release.

  5. 5

Draw the grant against milestones and report

Grant-in-aid releases in tranches against the agreed plan, with utilisation reporting to the R-ABI.

No consultant can guarantee a sanction — that decision sits with the evaluating committee, bank or incubator. We commit to an honest eligibility view, an application built to the evaluator’s format, filing inside the window and a documented follow-up cadence. That is stated in every engagement letter we sign.
