What this scheme actually is
The International Cooperation Scheme pays back a share of what it costs an MSME to appear at an overseas trade fair — travel, stall, registration and event costs. It also has a Capacity Building of First Time Exporters component that reimburses new exporters for defined export-related expenditure. For a hardware or consumer product startup, one well-chosen international fair can produce a year of pipeline.

Get the export base in place
Udyam and IEC registration are prerequisites for meaningful participation.

Choose the event and apply before it, not after
Assistance is event-linked and approval is needed in advance. Retrospective claims fail.

Apply through the IC portal
Applications are made at ic.msme.gov.in.

Keep every receipt
This is a reimbursement scheme. Missing documentation is the most common reason claims are cut.
