Which projects require Environmental Clearance?
Projects listed in the Schedule to EIA Notification 2006 — mining, thermal power, chemical industries, cement plants, oil refineries, airports, ports, large hotels, townships — require EC. Projects are categorized as A (central MoEFCC clearance) or B (state clearance).
What is the difference between CTE and CTO?
CTE (Consent to Establish) is required before starting factory construction. CTO (Consent to Operate) is required before commencing actual production. Both are issued by the State Pollution Control Board and must be renewed periodically.
