Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a barcode and a QR code?
A barcode (1D) encodes data in parallel lines — typically a GTIN (product ID). A QR code (2D) can encode URLs and much more data. For retail products, the GS1 barcode (EAN-13 or UPC-A) is the required standard — accepted by all major retailers and e-commerce platforms.
Can I use free online barcode generators?
Free generators create visually correct barcodes but without unique, globally registered GTINs. These are not accepted by retailers like Amazon, Flipkart, or D-Mart because the GTIN is not traceable to a legitimate manufacturer. GS1 India barcodes are the only accepted standard for trade.
