Government fees are as per the First Schedule of the Trade Marks Rules, 2017 and are passed through at actual. A trademark takes 12–24 months to register if unopposed.
How much does a trademark cost in India?
The government fee is ₹4,500 per class for an individual, proprietor, MSME or DPIIT-recognised startup, and ₹9,000 per class for everyone else. Our professional fee starts at ₹2,500 per class, so a single-class MSME filing comes to roughly ₹7,450 including GST.
What is a trademark class?
The NICE classification splits goods and services into 45 classes. Your trademark is only protected in the classes you file in, so a business selling both a product and a service often needs two.
Do I have to pay again later?
A registration lasts 10 years. Renewal costs ₹9,000 per class in government fees. Miss the date and there is a ₹4,500 surcharge, then a ₹9,000 restoration fee once it has expired.
